Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is, in men, the condition of having excessively enlarged or distended breasts, similar to female breasts, which often occurs during puberty but can also occur at any age. This may be due to hormonal changes, due to the effects of certain medications, or due to hereditary factors or obesity. Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and destroy individuals' self-confidence. In order to hide their condition, some men may avoid wearing certain clothes, doing physical activities that reveal their breasts, or they may even shy away from sexual intimacy. In summer, patients may be ashamed to wear a t-shirt and swim in the sea or pool. Some patients walk and sit with their breasts stretched to hide the size of their breasts. In a patient with gynecomastia, excess fat tissue and mammary glands are found in the breast area, and these mammary glands are removed to nominal levels by liposuction or open surgery.
